Winner, winner

Big congrats to architectural intern Mansi Sanghvi, who was recently awarded first prize in the urban/large scale category for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s School of Architecture Earl Prize Design Excellence Awards! Her award-winning project project focused on reviving the lost identities of two cities that shares common municipality. She and her team designed public spaces in Barcelona with respect to existing landscapes and people’s needs for future connections with nature and one another. Mansi also recently received third place in AIA’s 2022 Chicago Award in Architecture competition, an annual juried competition of student projects.

Mansi joined BLDD in May as a summer architectural intern. Being in a family with a business background, she carved a different path for herself with an intention to create a positive impact in people’s lives through her work. She believes “architecture is not just about creating spaces but building lives.” She appreciates purposeful designing that is sensitive to context and human needs, and she enjoys taking on new challenges and enhancing user experience in complex designs. For her, the journey and creative process that shapes values of design are very important.

Outside the office, Mansi is a trained classical dancer and a writer, and loves travelling and exploring different places across the globe.
