BLDD Architects Welcomes New Leadership and Creative Staff

BLDD Architects is pleased to announce the recent promotion of three long-time employees. These staff members have continuously moved BLDD forward by becoming leaders in their fields and going above and beyond for clients and projects.

Damien Schlitt, AIA, LEED AP, has been promoted to Principal. Damien, who has been with BLDD since 2007, has helped shape a path to success within the K12 design market. With a specialization in education design, planning, and community engagement, Damien has successfully assisted school districts throughout the Midwest to define, communicate, and create their facility visions. Additionally, he serves as the co-director of BLDD’s K12 design group, supporting our largest client sector.

BLDD President Steve Oliver says, “Damien has set himself apart as a K12 expert in our industry and has become a valuable resource to our clients throughout the Midwest from start to finish.”

Architect Justin Placek, LEED AP, has been promoted to Senior Associate. Justin has been with BLDD since 2008, and since that time, he has established himself as a leading project manager and client advocate, handling our most complex projects. Justin strives to create an exceptional client experience from design through construction. As a project manager, he has successfully guided BLDD’s K12 and Higher Ed clients to reach their project goals.

Architect Ryan Jacobs, LEED AP, has recently been promoted to Associate. Since 2003, Ryan has been an integral part of athletics design solutions and project management for K12 and Higher Ed clients. Over the years, he has expanded his expertise in project management and worked with some of BLDD’s largest district clients. He is passionate about providing innovative solutions to successfully meet clients’ needs. 

BLDD has also welcomed three new faces to the Interior Design and Marketing teams. Casey Bolt joins BLDD as Marketing & Business Development Coordinator. A graduate of Millikin University, Casey specializes in graphic design, photography, and content creation. Tess Frazier joins BLDD as an Interior Designer. Tess is a graduate of Mississippi State University’s Interior Design program. While in Mississippi, Tess worked in Residential Design for five years. Chrissy VanDeVelde, NCIDQ, LEED AP, will serve as BLDD’s Lead Interior Designer. Chrissy earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Applied Science & Technology degrees in Interior Design from Illinois State University.
